Police in Kentucky say that a 29-year-old administrative assistant at the University of Kentucky is responsible for multiple bank robberies dating back to 2010.
The woman was arrested earlier this month after a robbery at a PNC Bank. Police were led to the 29-year-old after a witness described the alleged robber’s car to them. Authorities claim that there are similarities between this most recent robbery and three others, which has led them to believe the 29-year-old is responsible for all four robberies.
One of the woman’s friends says the 29-year-old has been dealing with financial difficulties. However, she finds it hard to believe that her friend could be involved in such serious crimes.
“I could never believe in a million years that she would become involved in something like this,” the friend said.
Authorities claim that in all four cases, the alleged robber wore a surgical mask along with sunglasses and a pink hat.
The 29-year-old has pleaded not guilty.
While police believe they have the right person in custody, the woman remains innocent until prosecutors can prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt. As the case moves forward, new information may clear the woman’s name.
